In the past, the “Fosttreintje” brought miners from the Zwalm region to the Hainaut coal mines. Hence the name Mijnwerkerspad. A witness to that railway past is the koebrug (cow bridge). When the railway was still in use, farmers could take their cattle over the bridge to the surrounding pastures. Today there are some beautiful walking routes over that romantic bridge.
