Tour of Flandres – red tour

Fancy riding over the famous cycling routes of the Tour of Flanders yourself? The red loop of the Tour of Flandres cycling route starts in Oudenaarde and takes you along the Zwalm region to Geraardsbergen. A fun experience for the experienced cyclist!

Tour of Flandres – yellow tour

Fancy riding over the famous cycling routes of the Tour of Flanders yourself? The yellow loop of the Ronde van Vlaanderen cycling route starts in Oudenaarde and crosses Wortegem-Petegem, Horebeke, Zottegem and the Zwalm region. A fun experience for the experienced cyclist!

Relax in the south

A 10 km walk in the southern Zwalm districts. Along the way, discover the cozy village centre of Roborst or the ‘cathedral’ of Rozebeke and enjoy the unique view at the top of the Vijflindenkapel. The walk runs along unpaved paths and is therefore not suitable for wheelchair users and strollers.

Past charming villages

This idyllic walk starts at the provincial nature education centre De Kaaihoeve and takes you via the Kasteel Ten Bieze in Beerlegem to the picturesque Dikkele and Paulatem. Enjoy a Zwalmse tripel in the authentic village centre of Dikkele and be overwhelmed by the greenery in the Kaaimeersen.

Gourmand walking route

Beautiful walk along the Zwalmbeek and its small waterfalls. Enjoy a delicious regional product in one of the many restaurants and cafes along the way.

Watercress route

Walk through the rolling landscape of the Zwalm Valley from the picturesque watercress municipality of Roborst. Watercress is grown here in abundance in the canals filled with pure spring water. Climb to the open fields of Huldegem and Velzeke, where you can explore the provincial archaeological museum.

Between wind and water mills

This walk takes you from windmills to watermills in Flanders’ most beautiful landscape. Venture out for 9.5 km in the Zwalm Valley or make a shorter loop and go straight from junction 58 to 57.

Relax in the north

Walk in the northern Zwalm sub-municipalities. Along the way, discover the church of Paulatem, the idyllic village of Dikkele and the green Kaaimeersen and Kaaihoeve in Meilegem. The walk runs along unpaved roads and is therefore less suitable for wheelchair users and strollers.

Browsing around Roborst & Rozebeke

Walk along paved and unpaved paths in the districts of Roborst & Rozebeke. Some paths are not suitable for wheelchair users and strollers, but are easy to avoid.

Past windmills and beggars

This walk introduces you to the well-known Molenberg and surrounding area via the walking junctions. The route also partly runs through the neighbouring municipality of Horebeke.

Along the Zwalmbeek

This walk introduces you to the winding Zwalm, the beating heart of the Zwalm region, via the walking junctions. You can choose to walk the entire route or explore one of the shorter loops.

Munkbosbeek walk – red

Long walk through the Munksbosbeek valley and the picturesque village of Dikkele. Be surprised by the winding stream that flows through the beautiful landscape and relax with a delicious Zwalmse Tripel in one of the most beautiful villages in Flanders. The red loop is suitable for strollers and does not require appropriate footwear.

Scheldt and Zwalm valley

Discover the beautiful Scheldt and Zwalm valley through this 35 km cycling tour through the Zwalm villages. The starting point is at De Kaaihoeve, where you immediately enter an oasis of greenery.

Mountain bike route – green loop

The green mountain bike loop crosses Sint-Maria-Latem and takes the mountain biker via Paulatem through the domain of Kasteel Ten Bieze to Meilegem and Hermelgem.
